Q. How reliable is this test? Is it the same as a professional IQ assessment?
WIQS IQ Test is an intelligence quotient (IQ) measurement service designed to assess logical reasoning, numerical processing, spatial awareness, and processing speed by having you solve problems such as pattern recognition and figural reasoning within a given time limit. It is designed to minimize the influence of culture, language, age, educational background, gender, and color vision characteristics as much as possible. It is not a clinical diagnostic tool equivalent to an in-person assessment administered by a psychologist (such as the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale), but rather a reference indicator to help you understand your own tendencies in the abilities described above. Q. How is the IQ score calculated?
Your score is calculated based on the number of correct answers out of the 35 Official Test questions, compared against the score distribution of other test takers. As with most IQ tests, this is based on a normal distribution model with a mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 15. As more people take the test, the accuracy of this distribution model continues to improve. Q. How do IQ scores work?
Your score isn’t simply a raw count of correct answers. It is calculated by comparing your results to the score distribution of other test takers, using a normal distribution model with a mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 15. See How IQ Scores Work for a full explanation.
Q. What is a good IQ?
There is no fixed pass/fail line — “good” depends on where your score falls relative to the population average. Roughly two-thirds of people score between 85 and 115, which is considered the average range. See What Is a Good IQ? for the full classification chart.
Q. How accurate are online IQ tests?
Online tests like WIQS are useful reference indicators of specific reasoning skills, but they are not a substitute for a clinical assessment administered by a psychologist. Q. When will I receive my Official Test results?
Right after the Official Test, enter the confirmation code sent to your email on the results screen to see your result (estimated IQ, 95% / 68% margin-of-error ranges, and rank). This result is a reference value based on the participants so far and may change as more people take the test. A more precise Detailed Intelligence Analysis Report will be emailed to your registered address once enough data has been collected.
Q. What do the ranges in my result mean?
Your estimated IQ has a margin of error. The 95% range means the true value falls within that range with about 95% probability; the 68% range means about 68% probability. Values closer to the center of the range are more likely. Because WIQS is an online reference test, the range is relatively wide. Your estimated IQ and rank may change as more people take the test.
Q. What is the difference between the Pretest and the Official Test?
The Pretest is a simplified 5-question version that you can try immediately without entering any personal information. It allows you to familiarize yourself with the question format and answering method.
The Official Test is the full 35-question version. Right after you finish, you can see your result (estimated IQ, margin of error, and rank). Taking the Official Test requires your email address (so we can send you your results), country, name or nickname, year of birth, gender, and education. You can choose “Prefer not to say” for year of birth, gender, and education.
Q. Is the Official Test really free?
It is currently available free of charge. Should the service become a paid offering in the future, we will provide advance notice on the site and clearly specify the fees and payment methods. Please see our Terms of Service for details.
Q. Why do I need to verify my email address (enter a confirmation code)?
This is to confirm that the email address you entered actually belongs to you, so we can reliably deliver your results. A confirmation code is emailed to you immediately after you complete the test; please enter it on the results screen to see your result.
Q. Can I take the Official Test more than once?
You may retake the Official Test with the same email address one week after your previous attempt. This limit exists to prevent scores from being skewed by practice effects and to preserve measurement accuracy. There is no limit on how many times you can take the Pretest.
Q. How often should I retake the test?
If you want to track changes over time (for example, by age or life stage), once every 6–12 months is a good guideline. Waiting at least 3 months reduces practice effects. You can retake the Official Test with the same email address one week after your previous attempt. Because scores can also vary by a few points with health, sleep, and concentration, treat each result as one point in a trend rather than a fixed label. WIQS is not a clinical assessment.
Q. How is my personal information handled?
Information you provide is used only for calculating your test results, contacting you, and improving our service, and is never shared with third parties except as required by law. For details, please see our Privacy Policy.
Q. Is there a time limit?
The Official Test has a 25-minute time limit, starting from when the first question is displayed. You will automatically proceed to the results screen once the time limit has elapsed or you have answered all questions. Questions are presented in order from easiest to hardest, and you cannot skip questions or go back to a previous one.
